Simply, all humans are hypocrite in my eyes. EVEN I IS THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITE IN MY BOOK. Anyway, yes, let's just start for today's topic.
How to Criticize or Asking Clarification
...Well, I would like to ask... Who love flames here? Who love it, and take it seriously and not troll back? Oh, forgot it, it's just a random question. Either way, yes, this happened to me a lot, too. I would like to ask how would you deal when something you're so proud of suddenly being called as lacking information? Oh, acceptable to some, yes. Implication of it being "so suck"? No, I wouldn't like that. True, everyone have their own vision regarding something, True, people can go ahead and think "o hey, it's suck, change it". But hey? I don't think such comment is needed unless you hate someone too much. There are just really common sense of how you should criticize something.
1: You're NOT the Creator
This is the most basic of all thing. You're NOT the creator of that thing you want to criticize, do keep in mind this few stuffs:
- For what they're making the stuff? To reflect their inner sides? Or just want to be "I am awesum and you're laaaaaaaaaaame, trololololol"?
- How proud are they with their creation?
- How long they stressing themselves to put it into perfection?
- Is your experience the same with them?
Going by this logic, too, we go to number 2
2: Creator Are God Within His/Her Fiction, Be Respectful
I admit I'm sort of megalomaniac within this section, LOL! Ahem, jokes aside, let's put it in this way as emphasis. You're just a watcher, and the writer of the fic is a God! When the God being so merciful to you to answer your question, would you suddenly bash him or her? Eh, but atheists of fictions would say "I don't care, really" /lame joke, pardon for that. So the concept within this section are "Be respectful when you have interest with the story. If you want to bash the creator, do it when he/she becomes waayyyy to annoying".
3: You're NOT God Within His/Her Fiction, Don't Try to Impose Yourself as One
No matter how the creator seem failing, when someone impose themselves as the creator by saying "OH YOU SHOULD DO THIS, THAT AND ETC! I KNOW THAT BECAUSE I HAVE BLAH BLAH BLAH." In my mind, that would be something like... >_>
Would you LIKE IT when someone suddenly mess with your worldbuild? Fanfiction, sure! But when you present them with official material and they goes AHAHAHHAA LAMMMMMMEEEE, what would you do? Give me a break, I would crush them to smithereen. Worse, I would even show them what it means to have hell in living world. Although I said that, I'm a hypocrite. I prolly only will backstab them on their back, hahahaha...ha...ha'
That being said, me as author would prefer to do all stuffs alone and ask for help only when needed
4: You Can't Urge Someone to Suddenly Answer a Material
Result would be half-assed, seriously. It's nice to ask someone to elaborate further, that would make them happy and being motivated, but please... Urging is really something that make it like you want to end someone's life and deemed your life would end if you don't get what you want. Peoples sometime don't create material in happy go lucky way. They sometimes goes through STRESS for it
5: Don't Be an Ass
I would say, remove those things that implies boasting stuffs although you don't meant it. I myself don't like it when someone say "I have blah blah blah experience, you should follow my example". LEAVE ME ALONE with those. We will ask help if we need it. If not? Ooooh, OK, we'll try to do this alone. It's just as simple as that. Don't rub that whole "you fail" thing on face of someone innocent. See how they're hurting, then bow down to them in apology. No matter how experienced you are, you should give help in humble way, give them time to bud and bloom into beautiful flower.
That being said... I DESPISE, again, I DESPISE those who said "Ah but your char should have blah blah blah" without knowing what the hell I have in mind. Worst, I hate someone who mess with my worldbuild. That being said, yes, this content are mostly personal, but hey, that's the reason why I have blog~
